Dubai President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 870 prisoners on the occasion of the UAE’s golden jubilee. Wam, the official news agency, reported.
Those convicted of various crimes in the UAE are released from prison. The move would give prisoners the opportunity to start a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families. Debt and fines of released prisoners will be waived.
Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the ruler of Ajman and a member of the Supreme Council, has ordered the release of 43 prisoners ahead of National Day. The move is part of Sheikh Humaid’s interest in starting a new life for prisoners.
Procedures for the release of prisoners will begin soon. Ajman Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi welcomed the decision and thanked the ruler.
