Fisheries and Livestock Minister said that a developed and prosperous ‘Smart Bangladesh’ will be formed by 2041 by increasing productivity in agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors through the use of new technologies. Abdur Rahman.

The minister said this while addressing the chief guest at a function organized on the occasion of Krishibid Day at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on Tuesday (February 13) afternoon.

The Minister of Fisheries and Livestock said that with the increase in population and decrease in the amount of land per capita, the demand for food and nutrition of people is increasing day by day. To meet this demand, agricultural scientists should continue their relentless efforts to produce more productive seeds, high protein rich fish, meat, eggs and milk by inventing new technologies.

The minister said, with the aim of building an unstoppable Bangladesh in the progress of prosperity, for sustainable development, increase in fish production, job creation, socio-economic development of fishermen, market expansion of fish and fish products export, safe fish production in eco-sensitive areas with the aim of building a developed and prosperous country by 2041. Activities such as fisheries sanctuaries, development and management of hilsa resources, assessment of marine fish stocks to develop the potential of the green economy have been undertaken. As a result, a huge opportunity has been created to meet our needs and export fish and meat to foreign countries, the minister said.

Referring to Sheikh Hasina as an honest prime minister in the world, he said, under her visionary leadership, Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food today. He termed the Prime Minister as an agri-friendly Prime Minister and urged everyone to work together under his direction.

Bangladesh is self-sufficient in fish production by adopting and implementing timely plans for production and management of inland open and closed water bodies and marine water bodies. The Minister commented that as a result of the successful implementation of the planning and development projects undertaken by the government in the fisheries sector, the production of fish has increased to an enviable level.

He said, under the timely guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with the aim of implementing Vision-2041, the Department of Livestock has taken various projects to meet the demand of milk and meat and increase production, which will help to deliver the quality of service to the farmers’ doorsteps.

The Minister of Fisheries and Livestock said that agriculturists should continue their efforts to increase the yield of fish, meat, eggs and food crops, taking into account the global adverse conditions and climate change. We have to produce our own food grains. New varieties of crops have to be produced along with traditional crops.

The Minister commented that Bangladesh is rapidly moving forward in the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors due to the adoption of dynamic development strategies under the visionary leadership of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream of building a hunger and poverty free Sonar Bangla. He called upon the agriculturists to unite and develop new technologies in agriculture to build smart Bangladesh by 2041 by creating knowledge-based skilled human resources.
