The US Navy has deployed 3 of its 11 aircraft carriers to the Western Pacific with the aim of “deterring China and North Korea,” according to the Nikkei Asia newspaper.

The newspaper pointed out that “the US military has redoubled its efforts to contain China and North Korea by deploying aircraft carriers despite its growing concerns about the possibility of expanding the conflict in the Middle East.”
The newspaper confirmed that the carriers are: “USS Carl Vinson”, “USS Theodore Roosevelt” and “USS Ronald Reagan”.
According to data from the US Naval Institute, this is the first time that there have been three American aircraft carriers in the region in nearly two years.
According to a US Navy official, “A Chinese spy ship was spotted 5 to 10 miles (8 to 16 km) from the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, and it is believed that the ship was collecting intelligence information about American capabilities and plans.”
Admiral Christopher Alexander, commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, said: “We are here to strengthen our relations with our allies and partners, and to confirm our ability to deal with any crisis that may occur in the Western Pacific.”
The newspaper explained that the deployment of aircraft carriers at the present time carries a message that “the American army does not divert its attention from the Indo-Pacific region in light of the conflict in the Middle East.”
