Tamil People’s Alliance General Secretary K.V.Wigneswaran said that they can participate in the Independence Day events only if they get rights for Tamils.
At the same time, he has also welcomed the rally to be held from Jaffna University towards Batticaloa by declaring February 4th as Kari Day and emphasizing solutions for Tamils.

He had given this answer to a question raised by a journalist at a media conference held after the Tamil People’s Alliance’s candidate introduction meeting was held yesterday evening.
In this regard, he further said,
“I joined the Independence Day march team in 1958 and have not participated in Independence Days since then.
Because Tamils have not got freedom yet. We can participate only if we get our rights. This time we are playing in the deer symbol.
The symbol to debut in the first primary election
Its significance is that Yaden’s deer symbol is present in the first election. In this election, our candidates are contesting in the deer symbol.
