Colombo: Despite playing only one Test, Sri Lanka topped the World Test Championship points table, beating India to second place. Sri Lanka are top of the ICC World Test Championship points table after their 187-run victory in the first Test against the West Indies.

Fans have doubts as to how Sri Lanka, which has won four Tests so far and won two, lost one and drawn one, came out on top in just one Test. But the ICC’s explanation is as follows.

Percentage of points (PCT) is 100 per cent for Sri Lanka who have won just one Test. But with two wins, a draw and a loss, India’s PCT is just 54.17. Pakistan with 50 PCTs is in the third position behind India.

The points table may also change depending on the outcome of the Test series between India and New Zealand. India and New Zealand are the teams that met in the final of the last World Test Championship. The Kiwis won their first World Test title by defeating India.
