jpnn.comJAKARTA – Heavy rain which can be accompanied by thunder or lightning has the potential to fall at a number of points in 18 provinces, Sunday.
Based on early weather warnings published on the website of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Sunday morning, heavy rain is predicted to fall at a number of points in the provinces of North Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Central Java, Nusa West Southeast and West Kalimantan.
Next, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
Apart from warnings regarding the potential for heavy rain, BMKG has also included a number of areas in the alert category for the impact of heavy rain, such as flooding.
These regions include North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.
Furthermore, there is also a warning from BMKG regarding the potential for strong winds that could hit a number of provinces, namely South Sumatra, West Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi and Maluku.
In line with this warning, BMKG appealed to people in the country to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds which could occur at any time.
Previously, BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto said that extreme weather had the potential to occur during the 2024 Eid homecoming flow.
