On March 15, the stage of compliance with the requirements of call number 1 of OCAD Paz, a mechanism dedicated to financing projects that contribute to the consolidation of peace and territorial development, was successfully closed. In accordance with Agreement No. 70 of October 17, 2023, which establishes the Terms of Reference for this call, it has been confirmed that 40 investment projects have met all the necessary requirements to advance to the feasibility, prioritization and final approval.

These projects represent a crucial advance in the implementation of strategies aimed at peace and development in key areas for the progress and well-being of communities affected by the conflict. With a projected investment of $326,694,551,709.03 from the Peace Allocation, the projects cover vital sectors such as Housing, City and Territory (35%), Transportation (22.5%), Mines and Energy (20%), as well as Agriculture and Rural Development, Education and Social Inclusion and Reconciliation, the latter adding up to 22.5%.

The diversification in project investment reflects a comprehensive approach towards the reconstruction and improvement of living conditions in the regions most affected by decades of armed conflict, promoting not only infrastructural development but also social and economic progress.

This selection of 40 projects occurred after a rigorous evaluation process among 150 initially eligible proposals, demonstrating the high quality and potential impact of the finalist projects in their respective communities. The implementation of these projects promises to positively transform local dynamics, offering new opportunities for thousands of Colombians in areas previously marked by violence and state abandonment.

In addition, it was announced that during 2024, OCAD Paz will open four additional calls, organized by PDET Subregions, with a total resource allocation of $1.3 billion. This call plan underlines the continuous commitment of the government and the organizations involved to support peace and territorial development through strategic investments, marking a hopeful path towards reconciliation and national reconstruction.

The success of this first call and the announcement of the next openings of calls represent a significant step forward in the country’s efforts to overcome the consequences of the conflict and build lasting peace, through inclusive economic and social development.
