“A Trump presidency could be just what the world needs,” former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote in his weekly column in The Daily Mail.
“The results of the Iowa caucuses have exploded like thunder in all high-level meeting places”Johnson added. “And the reaction has always been the same: simplicity, gossip, panic.”
“They tell me that, at the Davos parties, the global liberal elite began to shake so violently that you could hear the ice cracking in their negroni cocktails”said the former premier. “In the Orwellian corridors of the BBC and much of the British establishment, there has been an orgy of meowing abhorrence and people holding their noses and saying, ‘Not him, not that man again.'”
“According to The Economist: “Donald Trump represents the biggest threat to the world in 2024″wrote the former British leader. “Now I love The Economist. But I wonder if there’s anyone on their staff who thinks they might be overstating it a bit. The biggest threat to the world? Trump?”
He continued: “If we look at the facts, we can really make the case (and I can make the case now, too) that a Trump presidency could be just what the world needs“.
According to Johnson, “Let me emphasize that this in no way diminishes the excellent qualities of Joe Biden, who has done many good things (…) and a friend of this country. Nor do I minimize Trump’s egregious mistake on January 6, 2021 and the riots that followed at the Capitol.
“He should have willingly accepted the voters’ decision. But in the end this should be a matter for the American people, and all indications are that they do not believe he should be banned from holding office again, any more than some high-ranking Democrats should be banned after having loudly denounced the legitimacy of the close ties. Johnson added that “the American people can see that none of Trump’s bluster and none of the events (however ugly) really affected the final outcome, and that power was transferred peacefully and in accordance with the Constitution from one administration to the next” .
He argued that “Reasonable people can see that Trump is not, in fact, a would-be dictator, and have come to resent what appear to be legalistic ruses to remove him as a candidate. The more frantic the effort to cancel him, the stronger it becomes. The more The more bitterly his enemies exact justice against him, the more unstoppable he appears to be.
“To all my selfless anti-Trump friends I say: calm down, folks. The angrier and more worried you get, the more determined your supporters will be, and a Trump victory will continue to move from possibility to probability to absolute certainty.
