The BCCI has decided to host the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament for the current year.

Earlier, it was reported that the tournament was canceled last year due to the Corona environment, but for the second time in a row it is likely to be canceled.

It was known to affect the calendar of domestic cricketers. In this context, the BCCI has decided to start this year’s Ranji Trophy cricket tournament in February. BCCI secretary Jai Shah on Friday announced that the league rounds of the tournament would start in the week of February 2 and the knockout round would be held in June after the IPL match. With the IPL match set to begin at the end of the month, it seems that the decision has been made to split the Ranji Trophy into two parts.

The biggest challenge for the BCCI will be to ensure that the 38-team tournament is played in a corona environment.

Ahead of the BCCI’s announcement on Friday, Ravi Shastri, former head coach of the Indian cricket team, said, ‘The Ranji Trophy is the backbone of Indian cricket. Ignoring that match will make our cricket the backbone. ‘
