US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed issues related to negotiations for the release of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as well as the security situation in the city of Rafah, in a telephone conversation.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, the White House announced this.

“The President reaffirmed his commitment to working tirelessly to support the speedy release of all hostages,” the statement said.

Biden addressed the situation in Rafah and “reaffirmed his view that a military operation should not proceed without a credible and feasible plan to ensure the safety and support of civilians.”

The parties also discussed the situation in Gaza and “the urgent need to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in dire need.”

The Axios portal, commenting on the White House message, notes that during a previous conversation on Sunday, Biden called on the Israeli leader to “try to find ways to fill the gaps in the negotiations” on the release of the hostages.
