Within the framework of Holy Week, the Colombian Episcopal Conference has issued a message addressed to Colombian society, highlighting the importance of strengthening dialogue as a means to overcome the challenges facing the country, especially in the midst of the escalation of violence that demands a forceful response from all citizens.

In their statement, the bishops call for sincerity, respect and openness to responsible listening as fundamental pillars of dialogueurging all sectors of society to contribute to the construction of a nation in which human values, dignity and fraternity are guaranteed.

They highlight the need to deepen paths of dialogue that focus on the common good and reconciliationrecognizing that they face the challenge of an escalation of violence that affects the entire Colombian society and that requires urgent measures to safeguard coexistence and human rights.

In this context, the bishops recall Pope Francis’ call to use the “gentle force of dialogue” as the best tool to overcome social, political and family conflicts, reaffirming that dialogue is the path that must prevail over violence.

Furthermore, they call on those engaged in political and social dialogue to continue forward.inspired by the historical message of Easter, which symbolizes the victory over death and the transformation of hate into love, from violence into peace.

Finally, the bishops conclude their message with a call to build together a more humane and peaceful coexistence, remembering the words of praise at Easter: “This is the day on which the Lord acted, be our joy and joy.”
