China is introducing export controls on drones and some of their components. About it says from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Restrictions are imposed on the export of a number of aircraft engines, lasers, radars, as well as anti-drone systems and other goods that “have a significant impact on national security.” Measures are introduced from September 1.

It is clarified that exporters of this equipment must go through licensing procedures and submit an application to the ministry, in which to provide documents, including those about the end user of the goods. After that, the agency together with other departments will evaluate the application and make a decision on the export of products.

A ministry spokesman explained that some civilian drones are subject to two-year export controls, while a number of uncontrolled drones are banned from export for military purposes. “In recent years, <...> the risk that some high-tech civilian UAVs will be converted for military use continues to grow.” says in a statement on the ministry’s website.

China is a major manufacturer and exporter of drones and has decided to expand control over them, while such actions are not aimed “at any particular country or region,” the ministry said, noting that in this way Beijing demonstrates a responsible approach to global security.

In April, a new package of export sanctions against the Russian Federation came into force in Japan, which includes, among other things, a ban on the import into Russia of drones and components for them, as well as parachutes, braking systems, balloons, gliders, etc.
