Cyberpunk 2077 will be released this year
CD Projekt Red has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a game release this year once the Phantom Liberty expansion is released in 2023.
As reported on the Polish site Stockwatch (and seen by Face Games), CD Projekt Red President and Co-CEO Adam Kiesinski said during a recent investor conference that Cyberpunk 2077 will follow The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will receive the remake that includes all the DLC that was released. Previously released in a single package.
“This is the natural order of things,” he said. “It was the same with The Witcher, which, after two expansions, was finally released as this year’s game edition and has been marketed as such ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”
The Phantom Liberty DLC — Cyberpunk 2077’s only paid expansion that will include hours of new story content — is expected to release sometime in 2023, and Kicinski said this year’s version of the game will come out shortly after.
Given that this expansion was only released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, it’s likely that this year’s game release will only be on those platforms as well.
In our 9/10 review of the base game on PC, IGN said: “Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, intense cityscape and offers an incredible amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.”
