► New drone attack on Moscow, damaged office building
Russia foiled a new Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow and its region early Tuesday (August 1st), Russian authorities said, saying one of the drones slammed into an office building in a Moscow business district, already targeted last weekend.
An attempted night attack on kyiv using “unmanned aerial vehicles against infrastructure in Moscow and the Moscow region was foiled”the Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram.
A drone “was neutralized by (means of) electronic warfare and, having lost control, crashed into the territory” of the business district of Moscow City, added the Russian defense.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, several windows of two buildings in Moscow City, the city’s most important business district, were blown out after a Ukrainian drone attack, Sergei Sobyanin reported.
“The facade at the level of the 21st floor was damaged, the windows were broken on an area of 150 m2. There is no information about casualties.”said the elected of the attack on Tuesday, explaining that the emergency services are on the spot.

Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport was temporarily closed before returning to normal operation, state news agency TASS said, citing emergency services. It had also been briefly closed early Sunday during the previous drone attack reported by Moscow.
Attacks on the Russian capital and its surroundings, located about 500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, have been rare since the conflict began in February 2022. In recent months, however, several drone incursions have targeted Moscow, including one against the Kremlin in May 2023.

The Russian army said on Tuesday that it repelled overnight an attack by three Ukrainian naval drones against its patrol boats in the Black Sea, at the heart of heightened tensions between Kiev and Moscow since Russia’s withdrawal from the grain agreement in mid-July.
“The three enemy naval drones have been destroyed” by open fire from Russian ships, assured the Russian Ministry of Defense in a press release, specifying that the patrol boats were attacked 340 km southwest of Sevastopol, home port of the Russian Sea Fleet Black in annexed Crimea.
