In Germany, a court has sentenced a 101-year-old man to five years in prison after nearly 80 years for aiding and abetting more than 3,500 murders in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II.
The case is being re-assigned to another judge, Neurup. The 101-year-old, identified by local media, has categorically denied allegations that he worked as a guard at a Nazi concentration camp and aided and abetted the killing of thousands of prisoners.
He also said that he worked as an agricultural laborer near Passover in Germany during that particular period.

Following the court ruling, the defendant’s lawyer, Stephen Watercomb, said he would appeal against the verdict.
Welcoming the court’s verdict, Joseph Schuster, chairman of the Federal Council of Jews in Germany, said, “Such a verdict is welcome, even if the accused has not served a full sentence of imprisonment due to old age.”
