During a visit to the Special Forces Command (KSK) of the Bundeswehr, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) emphasized the need for further efforts to ensure Germany’s security. “We have to be prepared for the fact that we have to do more for national defense,” said Scholz on Tuesday in Calw, Baden-Württemberg. “Without security, everything is nothing.”
It’s about improving cooperation in NATO “so that we can ensure that no one attacks our country, that no one attacks the alliance’s territory.” That means “we have to change a lot,” Scholz added. “But of course we also have to ensure that the excellent work being done in the Bundeswehr can also be achieved under good conditions.”
The Chancellor praised the work of the Bundeswehr’s elite unit. In Calw he met “women and men who prepare well and who repeatedly retrain for a dangerous mission.” Scholz emphasized: “You can rely on this team.”
