The acting Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, has guaranteed this Thursday that all sections of the line High speed between Murcia and Almeria will be completed in 2026 despite the “technical difficulties” or the “concept changes” that have led to some of them, such as those in Totana and Lorca or the integration of the railway in Almería, have been delayed with respect to the original planning.

“The rhythm of the works of the AVE to Almería is going at full speed”so that 1,300 million euros of the 3,400 million budgeted for the line have already been executed, Bolaños assured.

The most advanced sections are those that run between Alcantarilla and Totana and the entrance to Lorca through La Hoya. Also the burials of Barriomar and Alcantarilla are advanced.

The urban layout of Lorca, which contemplates the burying of the railway line in a section of about three kilometers, is one of the most delayed, since the bidding process was launched last June.

In addition to burying the railway in the city, the construction of the High Speed line must respond to the technical challenge represented by the construction of the tunnel under the Guadalentín riverbed at the entrance of the city.

The burial of the urban fabric of the Lorca railway it will cost 408 million euros. One of the possibilities that Adif is contemplating is the opening of the Cercanías line between Murcia and the San Diego Lorca station while the urban section is being executed, given that the rest of the route that runs through the Region will be finished much earlier, with the exception of that of Totana.

The works on the 9.9 kilometer section of the line that runs through this municipality and that includes a new station were awarded last January for just over 184 million euros.

“All the deadlines that have been established by the Ministry are being met by Adif”, defended Bolaños during his visit to the works being carried out in the Cuevas del Almanzora section (Almería), where he stressed that “practically all” the sections are under construction, with a level of execution “greater than 50%”while those affected by “greater technical difficulties” are tendered, awarded or in draft draft.

He specified that the works to develop the Totana station will be executed in 2025 given that during the next year the preliminary drafting of the project and bidding for works will be carried out due to the “change of concept” determined for the action.

Likewise, he assured that the integration of the railway in Almería, where works for 165 million have been awarded to bury the train tracks and adapt the station to the arrival of the AVE, will also be ready in 2026 despite the fact that the works, whose award must be ratified in September, contemplate a period of duration of 36 months. “Adif is meeting the deadlines that are demandingbut that he is doing it with great professionalism and with great care”, he observed.

38% of spending is executed

The acting minister maintains that 38.2 percent of the budget allocated to the infrastructure as a whole has already been executedvalued at around 3,400 million euros, for which reason he is confident in the progress of the works to meet the temporary objective that the Executive has set and that he reiterated up to three times before assuring that “the works of the AVE to Almería are going to full speed”.

“There has never been an investment as important as the one we are addressingboth in Almería and Andalusia, and that is why I think it is very good news that we are aware that the works are advancing”, remarked Bolaños who thanked the Adif staff for their “effort” to put an end to “communication problems”. of Almería and facilitate its rail connection with Madrid and with France through the Mediterranean Corridor.

He recalled that the Andalusian capital will not only be connected by the High Speed line with Madrid, but that “it will also be connected through the Mediterranean Corridor with France and, therefore, I believe that this is a sign of the commitment of the Government of Spain, of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with Almería and Andalusia”, he assured.

The acting spokesman for the regional government, Marcos Ortuño, yesterday asked the acting Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, “fewer statements and more facts” about the AVE, following the statements he made this Thursday in Almería. Ortuño, who answered the minister at the press conference after the Governing Council, expressed his desire that the High Speed reach Cartagena and Lorca “once and for all.” In addition, he took the opportunity to request that the city of Murcia have “a real AVE” because it currently does not have “competitive travel time, nor the necessary frequencies that it should have, as other provincial capitals do, nor does it have prices of the tickets consistent with those of other cities”. “I say this because we cannot take more than three and a half hours to get to Madrid in some cases and because we only have four daily frequencies when there are other capitals that reach twenty”.

The Plenary of the Totana City Council has agreed to request the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif) to replace two embankments with viaducts on the AVE route as it passes through that town, as reported this Thursday. This agreement, unanimously approved, intends to modify the embankments that pass through the areas of the Pérez Rueda school and the Los Sifones neighborhood. The municipal petition intends that the projected infrastructure be as permeable as possible, allowing the future urban development of Totana in accordance with its General Plan and that is the most respectful with the environment, integrating landscape in a more appropriate way.

The object of the proposed improvements is the adequate integration of the railway infrastructure in the territory, to which it must respond both in its urban environment and in the rural environment. In the case of Totana, given the urban nature of the surroundings and the impossibility of removing the wall that will constitute the future Adif station, which will form a barrier with an embankment length of 650 meters, it is considered essential to guarantee adequate permeability. , that the two embankments located on the flanks of the station are transformed into viaducts, which will also result in an easier replacement of services, better surface drainage and a shortening of execution times.

In addition, it was agreed to also request Adif to carry out the repairs on the rural roads that run through the municipality of Totana adjacent to the strip of land on which the railway line layout works are being carried out. In this case, the repair of the transit roads for large-tonnage vehicles that carry out the work of transporting land from this work is requested.
