IS terror attack in Syria during Iftar party: 7 killed

Seven people have been killed in a terrorist attack during an Iftar dinner in Syria. The incident took place in Syria’s northeastern province of Der Azor.

Nouri Hamish, a former spokesman for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, hosted an Iftar dinner at his residence in the town of Abu Khashab in connection with Ramadan fasting. Meanwhile, the attack took place. Syrian media outlet Euphrates Post reported that Noori Hamish was among those killed and four others were injured.

The assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire. IS has stepped up attacks in northeastern Syria following the assassination of Abu Ibrahim al-Qureshi and his official spokesman by US special forces. Investigators say there have been 23 IS attacks targeting northeastern Syria in the past 11 days.
