It is high time that the conversation of politicians through the media stops, as well as the use of epithets, commented today in Varna the MEP from the group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats)/DSB Radan Kanev. He expressed deep concern that a hopeful negotiation process had “broken down in a severe and – at least at the moment – seemingly hopeless way”. Kanev emphasized that our society does not need to go to elections again and politicians should use every opportunity to reach some reasonable agreement.
Internal problems will take us away from the dialogue with Europe, added the MEP. He clarified that he is fully aware of how the first weeks and months after the holding of European elections are going. This is a time of hyper-intense, tense, very sharp dialogue both for the appointments for the new mandate in the European institutions and for the identification of their priorities. Bulgaria can “sleep” during this period, because there is a risk of dealing with our internal problems instead of protecting our national interest, Kanev stressed. And he added that in the weeks after June 9, extraordinary efforts must be made in order for our country to secure its support for various decisions on the construction of the new power in Europe against the protection of its priorities, BTA reported.
Regarding the underestimation of the European elections by many Bulgarians, Kanev pointed out that when someone cannot explain his work to the citizens, it is not their fault. According to him, unfortunately, this is valid both for MEPs and ministers, and for more people in Bulgarian politics.
