The La Esperanza Community Development Association, the Tacuba Municipal Mayor’s Office and the Japanese Embassy in El Salvador, through its APCS program (Non-Reimbursable Financial Assistance Program for Human Security Community Projects), participated in the inauguration of the ” Water Supply Project
Potable in Cantón El Chagüite, Municipality of Tacuba, department of Ahuachapán.

The inauguration of the project was carried out by His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. ARIYOSHI Katsuhide, together with the Municipal Mayor of Tacuba, Mr. Carlos Milla, the President of the La Esperanza Community Development Association (ADESCOLEPRZ), Mr. Marvin Verón and members of community.

With this new project, more than 350 inhabitants and a school center of the La Angostura farmhouse in the El Chagüite canton are directly benefiting; thus improving the quality of life of the inhabitants, the health of the area and also guaranteeing access to clean and safe drinking water.

Since the foundation of the community, they had never had drinking water in their homes until today when they see that dream come true. During all this time, in order to get a supply of water, they had to walk for more than 3 hours along paths and dirt streets in poor condition, and thus reach the El Jutal River. Due to the current conditions of the
topography of the land some families made the effort to obtain a horse to carry water and reduce in some way the time and effort they put in daily going down to the river.

Faced with such a need, the La Esperanza Community Development Association, with the accompaniment of the community, sought support from the Municipal Mayor’s Office of Tacuba, who directed them to seek the accompaniment of the Embassy of Japan in El Salvador, to be able to carry out the water introduction project. drinking in the community.

So that all families today have a drinking water system in their homes, a total investment of USD $304,563.68 was made, which was destined for the execution of the entire project.
The Embassy of Japan in El Salvador arranged to contribute a total of USD $146,950.00 that was used for the supply and installation of the pump and discharge tree, installation of the distribution network (4,892.21 m), construction of a pumping house, construction of a storage tank (50 m3), Construction of perimeter fence for tank land, Exterior works in tank building, Tank construction
catchment (30 m3) and also supervision and external audit. The Municipal Mayor’s Office of Tacuba provided USD $116,275.70, which was used for the installation of the impeller line (2,033.50 m), introduction of electrical energy for pumping equipment, purchase and installation of a sign and commemorative plaque, and preparation of a technical folder. In addition, the community of the La Angostura hamlets of the El Chagüite canton contributed USD $41,337.98 that was used for the supply and installation of household connections and unskilled labor, who worked hard so that its inhabitants today can enjoy drinking water in the comfort of their homes.

With this type of project that the Embassy of Japan in El Salvador carries out through its APCS program, it seeks to improve the quality of life of Salvadorans and especially of the most vulnerable communities in the Country, under the concept of “human security”. , which urges to protect the right of people to lead a happy and dignified life,
free from fear and misery, through their protection and the development of their capacities.
