Foresters have seized kilos of plastic waste from the stomachs of two dead elephants in Sri Lanka.

Elephants roam the area, including Colombo and Palakkad, eating plastic waste from landfills.

According to animal welfare activists, elephants are being pushed to the brink of extinction due to plastic waste in their stomachs, including indigestion. In the last eight years alone, up to 20 elephants have been reported to have eaten plastic waste.
