Maranhão and Fortaleza face each other this Wednesday (27), at 9:30 pmat Castelão de São Luís, in Maranhão, for the 8th round of the group stage of the Northeast Cup.
The duel will be broadcast throughout Brazil on the open television channel SBT and the closed channel Nosso Futebol+, as well as in real time on CNN Esportes.
Fortaleza is second in group B, with eight points, and is in the qualifying zone for the knockout stage of the tournament. Vojvoda’s team is coming off a 1-0 defeat against Vitória, last Saturday, in the Copa do Nordeste.
Maranhão has 11 points, but is not among those classified for the next phase and needs to win and hope for a combination of results to advance to the quarterfinals. The team needs to hope that two teams between CRB, Ceará, Botafogo-PB and Vitória don’t win.
Leão, despite being second-place, still has a chance of staying out of the knockout stage. If they win, it’s guaranteed, if they draw or lose, a combination of results in the Treze-PB, Juazeirense, Náutico and Altos-PI games could eliminate Fortaleza.
