In view of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the running time of the metro rail will be increased by one hour from today (March 27). Passengers will get Metrorail service at extra time till the day before Eid.

The managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the company that manages the Metrorail, MAN Chiddik confirmed the matter.

A Facebook post by DMTCL on Tuesday (March 26) said, from 16 Ramzan (Wednesday), the last train will depart from Uttara Uttar station at 9 pm and the last train from Motijheel station will depart at 9.40 pm.

Metrorail operates daily from 7 am to 8.40 pm, excluding weekends on Fridays. Metrorail runs every 8 minutes during peak hours (7 am to 11:30 pm and 2 pm to 8 pm). And from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM during off-peak hours, trains run every 12 minutes.

Earlier, in the ‘special note’ signed by DMTCL Project-6 Sub-Project Director (Mass Communication) Deputy Secretary Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman, it is said that the metro train movement period is being extended by one hour from March 27. The last train from Motijheel will now depart at 9:40 PM instead of 8:40 PM and the train will stop at every station and reach Uttara North Station at 10:14 PM. 10 more metro trains will run on 12-minute off-peak headways during this extended period. It will run 194 times daily metro train and 4 lakh 47 thousand 752 passengers will be able to travel.

Metro trains departing from Uttara North Metrorail Station at 7:10 am and 7:20 am can only be traveled by MRT or Rapid Pass. Metro trains departing from Motijheel Metrorail Station after 9 PM can only be traveled using MRT or Rapid Pass.

After 8:50 PM, all ticket sales offices and ticket vending machines at Metrorail stations will be closed. Besides, single journey tickets can be purchased from all metro rail stations from 7.15 am to 8.50 pm. MRT Pass can be purchased and MRT or Rapid Pass can be topped up at the same time.

MRT pass can be purchased from any metro rail station at this time by collecting MRT pass registration form from www.dmtcl.gov.bd or metro rail station and filling it properly.

Information regarding MRT Pass or Single Journey Ticket, Single Journey Ticket or MRT Pass or Rapid Pass maximum stay in the exit area (paid area) after touching the entry gate is 75 (seventy five) minutes only for the holy month of Ramadan. If the prescribed period is exceeded, a fine of Tk 100 will be paid to the excess rent collection office.

As before, every passenger can carry only 250 ml water bottle in the paid area of ​​metro trains and stations to drink water during Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan. However, care should be taken that water does not fall. Used water bottles must be disposed of or carried in dustbins located on platforms or concourses or entry and exit gates.

Iftar schedule is posted next to the inner gangway door of every metro train coach. Iftar schedule is also being displayed on LCD saloon displays inside metro train coaches and liquid crystal display (LSD) screens at concourse level of metro rail stations. Besides, iftar time is being announced in every metro train.

The special note further states that under no circumstances shall any food be consumed inside the platforms, concourses and metro trains. Metrorail’s weekly closure is Friday. Apart from this, metro trains will be closed on Eid-ul-Fitr.
