His friends were also injured. None of them were attacked with a knife, but they have bruises, minor cuts and bruises all over their bodies. Five of those affected have reported the assault to the Mossos d’Esquadra.

Morning operation

The first attention, according to police sources, was made by the Barcelona Urban Guard. When the officers arrived there was no sign of the attackers. Now, the Mossos d’Esquadra are in charge of the investigation, which this Thursday morning made the first attempt to find the perpetrators of the stabbing. As this newspaper was able to witness, around midnight the police had covered all the exits from Plaça de Castilla, where the bar frequented by the suspects is located and very close to where everything happened. The Mossos had agents in Carrer Pelai, Ronda Universitat and Carrer Valdonzella. A plainclothes officer rode past the bar on an electric scooter to make initial checks and radioed a message. After a few minutes, a dozen uniformed officers ran across the square and into the bar. “Police, police!” The Mossos searched several people inside the premises and took five outside to identify them.

Several witnesses speak of two handcuffed people being taken away by police, although official sources do not confirm any arrests. The investigation by the Mossos to try to link the suspects to the stabbing continues and Thursday’s operation was a first warning. The existence of a video recording the first fight before the victim’s group tried to separate them could be key. Sources around the victims are concerned.
