In the afternoon of this Wednesday, Pisagua was the epicenter of a series of earthquakes of more than 4.0 magnitude.

Pisagua, in the Tarapacá Region, suffered a string of five earthquakes between 7:10 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. this Wednesday.

According to the National Seismological Center, the first of the telluric movements was recorded at 7:10 p.m. and It had a magnitude of 4.8 degreeswith an epicenter 79 kilometers west of Pisagua.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) He pointed out that it reached III degrees on the Mercalli scale in sectors such as Arica, Alto Hospicio and Iquique, while The SHOA stressed that it did not meet the conditions to generate a tsunami in northern Chile.

Just four minutes later, Pisagua was shaken again, this time due to a 4.1 magnitude tremor, 87 kilometers west of the city.

The third of the earthquakes occurred at 7:38 p.m., 81 kilometers west of Pisagua and reached 4.1 degrees Richter.

The fourth tremor was felt at 7:50 p.m. and had a magnitude of 3.9 degrees.

Finally, the last of the earthquakes occurred at 8:05 p.m. and had a magnitude of 4.7 degrees and its epicenter was located 83 kilometers west of Pisagua, in the Tarapacá Region.
