This weekend, Patrik Alvin, general manager of Vancouver Canucks, announced the hiring of Pius Suter for the next two seasons, a contract worth $1.6 million per season.
The Swiss center forward, who turned 27 last May, arrived in the NHL in 2020 as a free agent thanks to the skilful European scouting of the Chicago Blackhawks where he only played one season being transferred to sign for Detroit Red Wings where he has deployed his hockey the last two seasons.
It has been in the motor city where he has consolidated his career, and although his contribution in assists has not been homogeneous, it has been in goals, scoring 14 in his debut season in Chicago and then scoring 15 and 14 in the following two.
Some numbers that obviously do not make him a star in the league, but they do an interesting addition to the bottom six of any franchise, and the Canucks precisely had the center position of their third line orphaned up to this moment. A bottom six in which there are still to be defined who will be the companions who will support him in this new stage in the British Columbia.
A lineup to decide
