Power poker with the CDU and CSU – Söder and Laschet play these little games – domestic politics

by time news

They all want a Jamaica coalition – actually. But with the CDU, CSU and FDP it rattles in the box! And mighty mighty.

The FDP is “almost desperate”, as one of the FDP leaders says, because “we don’t know with whom we should negotiate on the Union side”.

CDU boss Armin Laschet (60) is considered difficult to communicate to the general public after the election bankruptcy. “We lack a clear contact person – and an alternative to Armin Laschet in the Union who is legitimized and highly regarded to claim the position of chancellor.”

Instead of at the level of the party chairman, at least the general secretaries are trying to find a line for explorations. But even that only works moderately:

The FDP absolutely wanted to sound out first with the Union and only then with the SPD. But first you got no answer – and then the wrong one: Due to scheduling reasons, the union can allegedly only be closed on Sunday evening.

The problem: The SPD has already invited for Sunday afternoon. And in the morning nothing works: There is the ceremony for the day of German unity – the front people cannot skip it. The hope now with the liberals: a short meeting with the Union after the ceremony – and before the SPD date. Then at least the symbolism was right. You can then go into depth later with the CDU and CSU.

So much for the FDP’s problem. It looks even worse in the Union: According to BILD information, CDU boss Laschet also wanted to invite the liberals to get in touch with FDP leader Christian Lindner (42 ) to make a Jamaica alliance palatable.

But Laschet failed – at least superficially – on the calendar of CSU boss Markus Söder (54), who did not want to miss the big reception for the 80th birthday of CSU honorary chairman Edmund Stoiber on Friday evening and preferred important grassroots conferences with his party friends on Saturday gave.

Head shaking at the CDU in Berlin: Bavaria’s policy before Germany?

Everyone agreed: This is Söder’s revenge! To Laschet.

The Bavarians in turn gave the ball back to the Adenauer house: “We would have had the whole week,” wrote CSU General Secretary Markus Blume (46) on Twitter to the FDP address, but also clearly meant the CDU sister. Their strategists see Söder’s alleged shortage of deadlines as a further attempt to ensure that Laschet is unsuccessful. In the CSU top this is – of course – rejected outraged.

According to BILD information at the CSU, there is also a “complete lack of understanding” about the CDU’s negotiating team, which wants to come with ten people. Giant teams would not have led to the desired success in 2017. It is said that you need lean teams in explorations.

The CSU itself will take part in a union discussion with the FDP with five people on Sunday at 6.30 p.m. In addition to Söder, Blume and regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt (51), party vice-president Dorothee Bär (43) and regional group manager Stefan Müller (46) will arrive .

In the CDU top they don’t want to hear about chaos and disputes. The CDU had to include 15 regional associations in the preparations and could not make decisions like Söder in Munich. Incidentally, because of his good contacts with FDP leader Lindner and his “high level of acceptance by the Greens”, Laschet is the only chance for Jamaica to come about.

In Munich one sees in him above all the mistake king and loser of the election …
