President Yoon Seok-yeol met with a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives Korea Study Group (CSGK) visiting Korea on the afternoon of the 25th and requested cooperation for the development of the ROK-U.S. alliance and support for Korean companies.
President Yoon met with six members of the CSGK delegation, including co-chairs Rep. Ami Vera and Rep. Young Kim.
President Yoon said, “I welcome the visit to Korea by the Korea Study Group delegation, a group of members of the U.S. Congress who most love Korea,” adding that the Korea Study Group, as a strong supporter of the ROK-U.S. alliance, has been expanding the support base for the ROK-U.S. alliance within the U.S. Congress and promoting cooperation between the two countries. It was appreciated that a lot of effort had been put into promoting the development of relationships.
Furthermore, President Yoon said, “I still vividly remember the warm welcome I received from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives when I visited the U.S. Capitol for a speech on the occasion of my state visit to the U.S. in April last year,” and added, “The ROK-U.S. ‘Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance’ based on universal values will shape the future.” He asked for the unwavering support and support of visiting Korean lawmakers so that he can move forward more vigorously.
In addition, President Yoon said, “Economic cooperation, including active investment by companies from both countries, is becoming the foundation for future growth engines for both countries,” and asked for the U.S. Congress to pay special attention to supporting the activities of Korean companies operating in various parts of the United States.
At the same time, President Yoon requested cooperation in passing a professional visa quota bill in the U.S. Congress so that our professionals and young people can enter the U.S. smoothly.
In response to this, the visiting Korean congressmen said that the U.S. Congress bipartisanly supports the ROK-U.S. alliance, and that the Korea Study Group, which has a special interest and affection for Korea-U.S. relations, is actively taking the lead in Korea-related legislative activities, including the professional visa quota bill. He said he would do his best to develop the ROK-US alliance.
Meanwhile, visiting Korean lawmakers highly praised the fact that the ROK-US alliance is firmly deterring the threat from North Korea and at the same time, as a global alliance, is closely cooperating for freedom, peace, and prosperity in the region and the world. From this perspective, they said that South Korea won the third democracy last week. Congratulations on successfully holding the summit.
