Even in retirement, Thibaut Pinot continues to make his Parisian fans dream. Known to be a fervent supporter of PSG, the former cyclist decided to auction his jersey as the best climber of the Tour of Italy 2023 for the benefit of the Collectif Ultras Paris Solidarité (CUP) supporters association.

“To help us finance our end-of-year actions, it’s a somewhat special supporter who is giving us the gift of auctioning his best climber’s jersey and his 2023 Tour of Italy bib,” explained the CUP on his Facebook account. Note that the ex-rider, retired last October after the Tour of Lombardy, was a member of the Ultras Paris Collective.

Jay-Jay Okocha as first idol

Auctioned on eBay, there are now 4 days left for the biggest fans to try to acquire this jersey. After more than 40 auctions, the tunic is now at 655 euros, or 155 euros more than the day before. As a symbol, the jersey is indicated as “to be collected by hand” near Melisey (Haute-Saône), the village where Thibaut Pinot grew up.

The winner of the 2018 Tour of Lombardy has long repeated his love for PSG during his career. “My first idol was Jay-Jay Okocha. When you’re little, there are things you get attached to. For me it was a goal from Okocha against Bordeaux. A strike from thirty meters,” he explained in our columns.

The 33-year-old ex-cyclist is still expected on the bends of Auteuil, at the Parc des Princes, where he has regularly gotten into his habit. “I experienced the most beautiful atmospheres in France in the corners. It’s my thing. There are young people who like to go to clubs, I like to attend football matches in stadiums and particularly in Auteuil,” he confided to us. Perhaps he will be in the match against Nantes at the Parc des Princes this Saturday at 9 p.m.
