Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to expand the national project to create a domestic space services industry and involve schoolchildren, students and young scientists in it. The project also needs to include the creation and launch of small spacecraft. The report to the President must be submitted by July 1.

The government, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education and Science and Roscosmos are indicated as responsible for the order. “To ensure the inclusion in the national project of services, technologies and products of activities that provide for the creation and launch of small spacecraft into outer space with the participation of persons studying in general education organizations, educational organizations of higher education, and young scientists,” says the list of instructions published on the Kremlin website.

Also, on behalf of Vladimir Putin, the national project being developed must take into account the creation and development of a network of ground-based research complexes on the basis of schools and universities for working with launched small spacecraft. It is noted that “interested foreign citizens and organizations” can be involved in the work of the network of ground-based research complexes.

The development of a national project in the space industry has been ongoing since October 2023. In April 2022, the then acting general director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, announced his refusal to continue working together with states that provide military support to Ukraine. According to Roscosmos itself, the refusal of “unfriendly countries” to cooperate cost the state corporation 180 billion rubles.

How the project of the Russian orbital station will be implemented is in the material “ROS for calculation”.
