Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government, together with the regional authorities and Gazprom, to consider the feasibility of fuel production in the Sakhalin Region. The list of instructions of the head of state is published on the Kremlin website.

“The Russian government, together with the Sakhalin Oblast government and the public joint stock company Gazprom, should consider the feasibility of organizing the production of aviation kerosene, gasoline and diesel fuel in the Sakhalin Oblast, including using gas condensate as raw materials,” the instruction says.

Responsible for its implementation were appointed Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller. The corresponding report must be submitted by November 1 of this year.

In addition, Putin instructed the government to submit proposals by December 1 to conduct an experiment to establish special regulation of emissions and absorption of greenhouse gases both in Sakhalin and in other regions of Russia.

Now Gazprom, together with the British-Dutch oil and gas concern Shell, is participating in the Sakhalin-2 project, within the framework of which an LNG plant is operating. The operator of the project is Sakhalin Energy, in which Gazprom owns 50% plus one share, Shell – 27.5% minus one share. Another 12.5% ​​from Mitsui & Co. Ltd, and 10% from Mitsubishi Corporation.
