  • RAF Camora suffers from sudden hearing loss.

  • He therefore has to postpone his tour to the last quarter of this year.

  • So far, there is only speculation as to what triggers sudden hearing loss. Stress is believed to be a contributing factor.

The Austrian rapper RAF Camora (39) actually wanted to start his “Phantom Tour” in March. He would have performed at the Hallenstadion in Zurich on March 15th, but now health problems put a stop to his plans. Raphael Ragucci, RAF Camora’s real name, suffers from sudden hearing loss.

On Tuesday, the rapper published an Instagram post explaining the situation in more detail. “I have been having problems with severe tinnitus and recurring sudden hearing loss since October,” the 39-year-old explains to his fans. He would often wake up at night because of the tinnitus and would repeatedly lose his hearing for several minutes during the day. Ragucci continues: “I’ve been in studios and rehearsal rooms and playing concerts since I was twelve. In 2021-2023 alone I played three tours and released five albums. I overloaded myself.”

The concert on March 15th in the Hallenstadion Zurich will be postponed.

Time out from social media

It would be difficult for him to accept that he was injured, as his body had been sending him “clear signals” again and again since October. “I didn’t listen to it in 2019 and I won’t repeat this mistake in 2024,” said the rapper. He further asks his fans for their understanding and says that he wants to postpone the tour until the last quarter of this year and that his doctors have prescribed an “urgent rest” for him. Because of this, he would withdraw from all social media until he was “fit again”.

How does sudden hearing loss occur?

What can trigger sudden hearing loss is currently only suspected. The medical network “Hirslanden” describes it as follows: “Various factors are suspected to trigger sudden hearing loss. These include circulatory disorders in the inner ear, infections, diseases of the cervical spine, autoimmune diseases as well as stress or psychological stress situations.

Often only one ear is affected by sudden hearing loss and, depending on the case, causes a slight reduction in hearing or, in some cases, even hearing loss. However, the symptoms are usually temporary and improve over time. However, it is important to see a doctor as quickly as possible, because rapid treatment increases the chances of improvement.
