McLaren appears to be considering changes to the future design philosophy of its road cars, as it has now has summarized Five core principles it aims to implement for its next generation of cars. These principles come from the company’s 60-year heritage and include making its cars look Epic, Athletic, Functional, Focused and Intelligent.

As for what these really mean, Epic is about the sensory excitement of driving, Athletic is about creating extraordinary looks, Functional is about design for performance, Focused is about ensuring the car is ultra-lightweight and aerodynamically engineered, and Intelligent is about extracting maximum performance .

McLaren has also teased this with some early concept renderings, while explaining that the cars are inspired by its successful Formula 1 cars like the MP4/4 and even other supercars like the McLaren F1 and 750S.The automaker even asserts that in future cars, its cabins won’t feel claustrophobic or compromised, aiming to offer elements of spaciousness and comfort with “Horizontal view.”
