New Delhi: For the convenience of stopover travelers, Saudi Arabia has introduced e-transit visa. The service, which came into effect two days ago, benefits all Muslims, including non-resident Indians. The transit visa service will come into force from Monday and passengers can apply for this visa through the e-platforms of Saudia Airlines and Flynas. An added feature of this visa is that it allows travelers with a stopover in the country to obtain an entry visa.

This stopover transit visa allows travelers to enter Saudi Arabia, benefiting travelers who want to visit the country to perform the holy duty of Umrah, visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, the holy city of Islam, and tour the country.

This visa allows holders to stay in Saudi Arabia for up to 96 hours. The reason behind the introduction of this visa by Saudi Arabia is that this move will attract more visitors to visit the historical, cultural and spiritual sites of Saudi Arabia.

This visa is free and attached to the passenger’s ticket. It is noted that this permit, which allows the traveler to stay in Saudi Arabia for four days, is valid for the next three months from the date of issue.

The visa application will be automatically sent to the integrated national visa platform and the digital visa will be issued immediately and returned to the beneficiary via email, according to a Saudi Arabian government statement on The Hindu.

The e-transit visa has been implemented in line with Saudi’s Vision 2030, an intercontinental link and a target of 100 million people visiting the country annually. This new stopover visa is seen as another proof of Saudi’s commitment to the growth and promotion of the tourism sector.

Earlier, the US made the much awaited visa related announcement. The news that the H1B visa applications will begin to be accepted from March 1 brought joy to many who have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time.
