The local police stated that the slaughter It happened on the night of this Sunday in a fiesta to which six armed people arrived on motorcycles and shot indiscriminately against attendees.
The commander of the Barranquilla Police, Jorge Urquijohe declared. “We are doing the investigative activities in order to clarify the facts in which five people who were conversing lost their lives”.
According to witnesses, two of the victims died on the spot and the others died in health centers to which they were transferred along with the other wounded; fundamentally, in the Barranquilla hospital, close to the place of the attack.
The slaughter occurred in the context of the confrontation between the criminal gangs Los Rastrojos and Los Costeños, who operate in the city to control drug trafficking; leading to an increase in violence.
For the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) with the slaughter in Barranquilla, there are 24 massacres executed in Colombia during the course of the year 2023.
