A scuffle broke out between students and the police when they tried to screen a banned BBC documentary at Delhi University.

The BBC news agency had produced and published a documentary about the 2002 Gujarat riots. The central government had banned the documentary. In this case, students tried to screen a banned BBC documentary in Delhi University. The Delhi Police who immediately went there protested the release of the documentary and tried to evict the students from there. Prohibitory order 144 was also issued in the area to prevent students from congregating. When the students tried to screen the documentary despite the ban, a scuffle broke out between the police and the students. After that the students were taken away in handcuffs and loaded into the police vehicle. Due to this incident, the area turned into a jungle of riots.
