Tirupur: After a long delay, work on ‘escalator’ at Tirupur railway station has resumed. It is expected to be operational in the first week of August. Tirupur Railway Station has a ‘lift’ facility to go from the first platform to the second platform. Both places are accessible by stairs. For the convenience of train passengers, an escalator bridge was planned to be constructed in front of the railway police station.
Although the work started four years ago, there were continuous delays in the arrival of the equipment. Passengers with high expectations were disappointed. The news was published several times in ‘Dinamalar’ newspaper that the place where the escalator will be set up is becoming a spectacle. In this situation, after a long delay, the moving stairs for the escalator have now been introduced. The work of fitting them has been going on for two days. After making the connection from the first platform to the escalator, the test patching will be carried out. Railway station officials said that it will come into operation in the beginning of August.
