The National Forum of the Libyan Syndicates and Federations will be held in the meeting room at the Teachers Syndicate headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, next Thursday morning.

The forum will be held under the slogan “Unions and their societal role in supporting and correcting public decisions and policies for a better life for society,” with the participation of heads of general unions and members of their committees and branches approved before the issuance of Law 3 of 2023 regarding unions, federations and professional associations, according to what the Libyan News Agency reported.

The forum aims to confirm that trade unions and federations are independent bodies, and work through their registered members in accordance with the legislation in force, each according to his professional, craft, or labor specialization, as stated in their bylaws.

The forum also emphasizes working in accordance with legislation, rejecting all measures that led to the establishment of parallel unions with the same name, and the necessity of correcting them from the General Conference of Unions previously approved.

The forum will work to stimulate and support union work, and restructure unions away from any political tensions or quotas, or control over them and their decisions from any party in accordance with what is approved by international laws and treaties, in addition to announcing the code of honor for union work, naming the event, and proposing that it be a national day.
