The permanent trend of decreasing migration pressure towards Bulgaria continues. This was reported by the resigned Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov during the parliamentary control in response to Ivan Ivanov from the BSP.

Stoyanov gave two examples to support his thesis.

In the last 24 hours, 40 people tried to illegally cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border, and for the same date last year, there were 482 people.

From the beginning of the year to March 20, 5,777 people illegally tried to cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border, and for the same period in 2023, there were 18,474 people.

The minister also reported how many migrants have been returned to our country under the Dublin Regulation. From January 1 to March 4, there are 168 persons. Most were returned from Austria – 69, and Germany – 51. There are also returned migrants from France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, even from Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic. It is about persons who have applied for international protection in Bulgaria.

Only one person – a citizen of Morocco – had a criminal record – following a report from Germany for a crime against property, and he was placed in a closed dormitory in Busmantsi, Minister Stoyanov explained.

For the first two months of the year, 9 foreigners with completed procedures for granting international protection were transferred to the “Migration” Directorate and orders were issued for accommodation in special homes.
