Los Fierce Awardsthose delivered by specialized criticism, they will return to Zaragoza after the successful gala of the previous year, and will celebrate their tenth anniversary in the Aragonese capital in the ceremony that will take place will be held on Saturday, January 28. The location will once again be the multipurpose room of the Auditorium that was revealed as an ideal place taking into account the relaxed format for which these awards bet. This has just been announced within the framework of the San Sebastian Film Festival by the president of the Association of Cinematographic Reporters of Spain, Mary War, accompanied by the deputy mayor of Zaragoza, Sarah Fernandez.

It will therefore be the second time (and consecutive) that the city welcomes the main stars of Spanish cinema in a gala that, according to a study commissioned by the consistory, they generated in 2021 an impact for the image of the city of 8 million euros.

After the renewal of the agreement between the AICE and the Zaragoza City Council, the Aragonese capital will also host, in addition to the gala itself, an ambitious program of films, series and exhibitions over the coming months, whose first details will be announced soon on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Feroz Awards.

“It is a pleasure to return to Zaragoza to celebrate not only the Feroz awards, but also the previous events in which we are always surprised by the cinephilia of its citizens that fills all the sessions and meetings with the filmmakers, demonstrating that their cultural and critical criteria are very high”, confirms María Guerra, president of the IAEC. “Zaragoza is the example of a restless city open to the multidisciplinary dialogue offered by cinema. In these 10 years of life of the Feroz awards, the audiovisual industry has evolved, and we have had the honor of accompanying cinema and series in this transformation and in their relationship with the public. Zaragoza is the best possible setting for this celebration”.

“Zaragoza is a welcoming, friendly and open city, so we will once again welcome the sector with affection and affection,” says Deputy Mayor Sara Fernández

For Sara Fernández, deputy mayor of Zaragoza, “It is a great joy to host the Feroz Awards for another year and thus continue with the success of the previous edition. In addition, all the parallel programming and the Campus La Inmortal that we celebrate in the summer strengthen the relationship and the exchange of experiences between the general public and professionals from the cinematographic world”. “The audiovisual sector is culture and it is economy”, Fernández continued, recalling that “the media impact for the image and external projection of the city in the previous edition was valued at 8.24 million euros”. “Zaragoza is a welcoming, friendly and open city, so we will again welcome the sector with affection and affectionto the members of the IAEC and to all the visitors who want to share with us their pride in audiovisual culture”, remarked the Deputy Mayor.

Premio Feroz Film Festival 2022

Furthermore, in the same intervention, ‘The kings of the world’, by Laura Mora, has received the 2022 Feroz Zinemaldia Awardwhich distinguishes the best film in competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in the opinion of the members of the Association of Cinematographic Reporters of Spain (AICE).

The arrival of the Feroz last year was not limited only to the celebration of the ceremony, but a complete program was organized that filled the Aragonese capital with cinema between October and January. This year it will happen again. Screenings of films and series with the presence of their artistic teams, cycles on specific authors and round tables will make up a complete agenda open to the people of Zaragoza.

Since they were created in 2014, the Feroz awards have always been held in Madrid, except in 2019, when they landed in Bilbao, and last year in Zaragoza. In 2021, the Multipurpose room even hosted a Red carpet and the public was able to come to see the actors and actresses.

The Forques

It will not be the first time that Spanish cinema lives one of its festivals in Zaragoza since not long ago, in 2018 and 2019, the Aragonese capital was also the venue for the producers’ awards, the Forquéin this case, in the Palacio de Congresos de la Expo, and sponsored by the Government of Aragon, which made every effort to ensure that the awards will be given not only once but twice.

One of the great aspirations for several years has been to bring the Goya gala to the city. Deputy Mayor Sara Fernández recognized last year that the current government team has maintained contacts with the film academy in this regard, but so far they have not come to fruition. The main handicap in this regard is the high financial outlay necessary (there is talk of no less than two million euros).
