The short film ‘Takbir’, directed by the Girona Jordi Calvethas won the sax festivalin Alicante, certainly qualifier for the Goya awards. This positions Calvet’s first work in the world of cinema in the face of the awards that will be handed out by the Academy of Spanish Cinema at the beginning of next year. Sax’s prize is the number 71 which the filmmaker has collected with ‘Takbir’ after it was released in the autumn of 2022. Jordi Calvet has collected statuettes from festivals in the United States, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Indonesia, Greece and several state film competitions. Now, the short film is selected in other film festivals such as New York, Los Angeles, Long Island, Bon Dance (Japan) or Ouchy (Switzerland).

The short film ‘Takbir’ is about one fiction linked to jihadism. The play details the story of a thriller author who is commissioned by a production company in Turkey to make a television series about a terrorist group that carries out attacks in several cities. Six months later, this author sees how the ISIS group materializes two of the proposed attacks that the author had devised.

Faced with the terror that the man experiences when he sees that he has become the mastermind of these operations, he decides to go to the National Police station to warn them that the next attack should take place in Madrid.

‘Takbir’ is the first short film directed by Jordi Calvet, although it has a top notch casting. Pedro Casablanc, Xènia Tostado, Octavi Pujades, Macarena Gómez or Ares Teixidó act in it.
