Filming

Last May, HBO transformed the landscape of the medieval city of Cáceres for the third time for the filming of the second season of ‘The House of the Dragon’, with a deployment of 600 workers, trailers, props and large cranes in its intricate streets, where production company personnel, performers, extras, residents, fans of the series and tourists mixed in an armored historic center for days.

The capital of Cáceres has managed to conquer the Iron Throne on its own merits and definitively displace Dubrovnik as the setting to recreate the city of King’s Landing in the millionaire saga of ‘Game of Thrones’.

Especially after seeing in the first season of “The House of the Dragon” the dimension that the medieval citadel of Cáceres acquired in the plot, with the recreations of the Silk Street and Flee Bottom, where the meanness of the kingdom hides the poverty of its people in the underworld. With real scenarios like House of the Sun converted into street theater in the previous season and which in the May shoot looked like the Posada del Gallo.

Fabien Frankel, Olivia Cooke y Emma D’Arcy, main figures of the series, traveled to Cáceres to film. And some of the performers participated in a funeral procession. We will have to wait for its premiere or the arrival of a new trailer to enjoy the impact of this universal franchise.
