The coach of the Bulgarian national under-21 team, Alexander Dimitrov, praised the performance of the young “tricolors” in the 1:0 away win against Poland in the European qualifiers.

“We’ve all put in a lot of work. I’ve always said it’s a great pleasure to work with these guys. There’s a trust between us. They’ve given the best of their abilities. They’ve all seen that their opportunities are great and they deserve a lot more than what they’re getting the moment. There was a lot of running and helping each other. They did it with class and confidence. We came to a unique facility, the likes of which are not in Bulgaria. I was worried that they might wind up and not reflect well on the players. This team is made of the first qualifying match and grew with each match. Thanks to their dedication in the training process, they quickly returned to the level they were at. We improved even more from the match with Estonia. I am glad that the hard work of the players has been rewarded,” Dimitrov commented to Diema Sport.

A second-half goal by Marin Petkov left Bulgaria third in the standings, three points behind leaders Poland. The two teams will play against each other again in September in Sofia.
