jpnn.comJAKARTA – PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto sent a signal that his political parties will fight back, if the MD3 Law is revised just for the sake of power like the position of Chairman of the DPR RI.

He said this when asked by media crew about the possibility that there would be a political maneuver to change the MD3 Law so that the post of DPR Speaker would not be the right of the party winning the election.

“There will be a force of resistance from all sympathizers, PDIP cadre members and that is definitely an impact we don’t want,” said Hasto in response to media crew at the PDI Perjuangan DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday (25/3).

It is known that provisions in the MD3 Law state that the position of Chairman of the DPR is the right of the political party that wins the election.

PDI Perjuangan on the other hand has been determined by the KPU as the party with the highest vote acquisition in the 2024 election, beating Golkar.

Hasto suspects that the narrative of changing the MD3 Law stems from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)’s move to change the constitution at the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the requirements for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, constitutional changes at the Constitutional Court mean that Jokowi’s eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, can become Prabowo Subianto’s running mate.

“Just looking at Pak Jokowi can change the law in the Constitutional Court which should not be allowed to be intervened by the President, it turns out it is proven that there is a familial relationship. That’s possible,” said Hasto.

PDI Perjuangan will fight back if the MD3 Law is revised just for the sake of power, such as the position of Chairman of the DPR RI.
