Twitter users will be able to use audio and video calls, as well as encrypt their private messages. This was announced by the owner of the social network Elon Musk.
“Voice and video chat will be available soon, so you can chat with people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” Musk tweeted.
He also noted that the updated version of the social network will be able to encrypt messages. Musk clarified that now he will not be able to reveal the private messages of other users, “even if they put a gun to my head.”
Musk announced the updates on the night of May 10 Moscow time (on the evening of May 9 local time). According to him, the new features will become available the next day.
In 2018, Twitter acknowledged the existence of a bug that allowed third-party app developers to access users’ private messages. In mid-April, Musk said that US authorities had full access to everything that happened on Twitter, including users’ private messages.
