UGANDA QUALIFIES FOR T20 CRICKET WORLD CUP

In a historic moment for Uganda’s cricket team, they have qualified for next year’s T20 Cricket World Cup in the United States. This marks the first time Uganda has qualified for the ICC’s senior level World Cup in all formats.

Their qualification came after a decisive victory over Rwanda, winning the match by 9 wickets in the qualifiers. Uganda secured their spot in the 2nd place while Namibia claimed the top spot in the African qualifiers.

Uganda’s qualification makes them the 5th African nation to play in the T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe, traditionally dominant in the African region, finished 3rd in the qualifiers and narrowly missed out on advancing to the main round.

With the completion of the African qualifiers, all 20 places for next year’s T20 World Cup have been filled. The tournament is set to be held in West Indies, USA from 4th to 30th June 2024.

The qualification-based teams for the 2022 T20 World Cup include hosts West Indies and USA, along with Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka in the top 8. Also qualified are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Nepal, Oman, Namibia, and Uganda.

The inclusion of Uganda in the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup is a significant milestone for the country’s cricketing history, and fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing how the team fares on the international stage.
