Today in Aosta the first 200 sessions. Almost 2,500 young people involved
The vaccination round against Covid-19 for girls and boys aged 14 and 15 begins. Today the first sessions are scheduled, about 200, and the administrations will continue for the rest of the month until the first three days of August in the vaccination center of Palaindoor in Aosta. The places available each week are 720, 600 on Tuesdays and 120 on Friday afternoons.
In all, 2,348 children born between 1 October 2005 and 31 July 2007 called to be vaccinated. For now, according to the data communicated by the Usl Company, 461 have confirmed the vaccination date on the booking portal.
Maria Paola Farinelli, pediatrician and head of the organization of vaccination centers, explains: «In Valle d’Aosta we have registered, so far, 704 cases of positive children under 16, of which 312 cases between 12 and 16 years of age. Furthermore, during the school year, in our Region it was necessary to arrange the quarantine measure for more than 500 classes. A situation that can only be contained in the face of significant vaccination coverage ».
The pediatrician adds: «We expected greater membership, but today is the first day and many are on vacation. It is essential that children are also vaccinated to protect themselves and their families, especially grandparents and those who are most fragile and most exposed to the risks of Covid-19. Children have the right and need for a normal social life and free from disease and the vaccine is the only tool we have available to mitigate, as much as possible, the spread of the virus. Furthermore, the more people are vaccinated, the lower the possibility of spreading variants, including the Delta variant, which is already on the rise, especially among young people ».
In the next few days the invitations for twelve and thirteen year olds will also be completed, who will find on the portal, by July 16, a booking date between July 20 and August 10.
