According to DANE data, 43% of the population of Bogotá are single. In 2020, 1,285,509 people between 25 and 29 years old were registered who have never married or lived in a common law union.
Likewise, in the DANE survey “Loneliness in Colombia” showed that 79.7% of people who live alone declared that they did not have a partner or spouse (grouping single, divorced, separated and widowed people).

Colombia’s online dating market is thriving, with a growing number of platforms catering to the country’s vibrant and diverse population.
According to Statista projections, the online dating market is expected to reach 2.8 million users by 2028.
Relations
A recent study from the Manuela Beltrán University analyzed the relationships of people between 17 and 40 years old. Of these, 69.9% are women, while 30.51% are men.
This survey revealed that 5.08% are married, 27.12% are in a relationship, 0.85% are legally separated, 54.24% are single, and 12.71% live in a common law union. It also found that 83.9% of the population is looking for a lasting commitment and emotional stability.
Marriages
Statista revealed the number of marriages that were registered in Colombia from 2016 to 2023. In 2022, a high number of marriages registered in the country is evident: 70,861. This is the highest number of marriages that the South American country has recorded since 2016.
It should be noted that homosexual marriages have been legal in Colombia since that same year. While last year, there was a decrease with 47,433 marital unions.
Divorces
According to the Superintendence of Notaries and Registry, in 2023 divorces increased from two to four per hour. That is, around 1,990 couples per month submitted requests to carry out their legal separation, for a total of 17,914 divorces in the year.
Statista supports this information with 17,639 separations until September 2023, and ages 30 to 45 stand out as the group with the most separations.
