RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan published another article from Nubarashen Prison. We present it below.

“Aliyev’s interview at the beginning of the year gave a new charge to the discussions about the so-called “Zangezur Corridor”. No matter how much Pashinyan and his team tried to cover up the problem, no matter how much they declared with their characteristic lies and cynicism that “the issue is closed”, the fairly open and very aggressive speech of the Azerbaijani president was a cold shower on the heads of those who still believed in the government propagandists.

The pan-Turkic project through the territory of Armenia, by which the peoples of Turkic origin were to join together in the orbit of Asia Minor, South Caucasus, Middle and Central Asia, as a dream of Turkic intellectuals, is not new and was born at the beginning of the 20th century, but the Sovietization of the South Caucasus prevented its realization. efforts, and the dream of the “Turkic zone” appeared on the dusty shelves of the cabinets.

The collapse of the Soviet Union was a chance to implement the pan-Turkic plan, but the victory of the Armenian people in the Artsakh Liberation War did not leave any chance to create a common Turkic territory of the whole world.

After Pashinyan came to power in 2018, a new window of opportunity opened for Turkey and the geopolitical centers supporting it. Aliyev made the best of the situation after the horrific and tragic 44-day war by dropping this time bomb in the tripartite statement of November 9.

In his attempts to blame his own sins and betrayals on the “formers”, Pashinyan tried to include the “Zangezur Corridor” problem, claiming that all proposals for the Artsakh settlement always included the issue of opening all communications. However, neither Ter-Petrosyan, nor Kocharyan, nor Sargsyan left a single provision, opportunity, or wording in the negotiating legacy, thanks to which Azerbaijan and Turkey could restart their old dream.

To prove what I said, I present to you the analysis of the documents adopted by the Organization of Turkic States (the only institutional body of the pan-Turkic project) from the day of its creation until today, which again unequivocally proves that Nikol Pashinyan is the reviver of the “Zangezuryan Corridor” together with Erdogan and Aliyev.

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was established as the “Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States” in 2009 based on the Treaty of Nakhichevan and has since adopted 13 declarations.

From the beginning, the reference to the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the statements of this organization was quite restrained and did not stand out with pronounced pro-Azerbaijani wording.

In the 2009 Nakhichevan Agreement, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of territorial integrity and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders.

In the 2011 Almaty Declaration, the organization expressed its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan.

Both in 2009 and 2011 and after that, there are no “Zangezur Corridor”, “occupied territories” and other similar wordings in the documents adopted until 2021. In other words, there is no mention of “Zangezur Corridor” even in the official statements of the most pro-Turkish organization “After Serge”.

This continues until the 2021 Istanbul Declaration, which officially mentions the Zangezur Corridor for the first time: “The Organization highlights the Zangezur Corridor as an emerging opportunity to promote better connectivity within the Trans-Caspian International East-West Corridor and calls on Member States to support the efforts of the government of Azerbaijan in the direction of its early launch” (item 40).

After that, the mention of that corridor becomes an integral part of the documents adopted by the Turkic organization (Samarkand 2022, Ankara 2023, etc.).

We can conclude that before the 44-day war, Azerbaijan did not manage to make this most pro-Azerbaijani and pro-Turkish organization, even in its official messages, appear with strongly pro-Azerbaijani texts. This organization began to adopt strongly pro-Azerbaijani texts only after the 44-day war, and Aliyev’s “Zangezur Corridor” appeared in the organization’s official documents only in 2021. in the summer, after the re-election of Pashinyan as a result of the extraordinary elections.

In other words, the “Zangezur Corridor” is merely the result of Pashinyan’s “diplomatic efforts”, which was never part of the international agenda before he signed point 9 of the November 9 statement. If this topic, as well as the biased position on the issue of Artsakh, was absent even from the agenda of the organization of Turkish countries, it is obvious that the atmosphere in other international structures would hardly be more favorable to Azerbaijan.

In other words, the statements of the current authorities about disproportionate pressure on RA by the international community, recognition of Artsakh as Azerbaijani, Zangezur Corridor, etc., are groundless and are aimed at covering up their own criminal failures.”
