Appa would have been a great actor if he knew how to pull the strings and get things done: Kalidas Jayaram
Actor Kalidas Jayaram talks about some of the ways in which children of stars enter the cinema and about his father Jayaram. Kalidas said that he did not get any kind of launch in the film that star kids get and Jayaram is not aware of any such thing.
The actor was speaking in an interview given to Bharadwaj Rangan in Galata Plus. The actor was replying to the question as to why Kalidas Hero, who chose films different from other actors, did not try for sarcastic characters. Bharadwaj had also asked if Jairam had not given his support.
“I have always had the opportunity to make decisions in my life. That is what I consider the greatest blessing.
In the case of the children of the stars, the launch is usually done in films. Then there will be people to design projects for them and present them in a special way.
They decide many things, including how to dress when going to public events. That method certainly has its merits.
But fortunately that has not happened to me. My father never said that he would make films for me. I wish it had happened like that (with a smile).
I felt that I needed such support from him. But it hasn’t happened. He came in without any support and maybe that’s why it works like this with me.
And he does not know such things. Even though he has been in the industry for over 35 years, he doesn’t know how to pull the strings. If he had known how to achieve this, he would have become a much bigger actor than he is today. That’s my feeling.
Although he did not get help or support, he had the name Jayaram’s son. That alone was enough to stress us out.
All the films I did were my own decision. Always wanted to be a part of good films and good content. That is why such pictures were chosen,’ said Kalidas Jayaram.
Kalidas, who started his career as a child actor, played the lead role for the first time in the 2016 Tamil film Meen Kozhambum Man Paniyum.
Later in Malayalam he did Poomaram, Argentinian fans Kattoorkadav, Happy Sardaar, Jack and Jill, Mr. and Mrs. Rowdy.
Kalidas got his big break with a role in the Pava Kathaikal anthology film Thangam. The role in Vikram also gained attention. Nachathiram Nagarkirath is the latest release of the actor.
